Create a New File

 

To create a new file on the Braille N Speak do the following:

1. Turn on the Braille N Speak by moving the toggle switch on the right side of the BNS to the back position. Go to the options menu by pressing the braille character o and the spacebar. This is referred to as an o-chord (dots 1 3 5 + spacebar):

2. Press f (dots 1 2 4) to select the file menu:

The BNS will say: “Enter file command”

3. Using the Braille input keys, enter the "create file" command by pressing the Braille character c  (dots 1 4):

The BNS will say: “Enter file to create.”

4. Use un-contracted Braille to name your file.  Lets name it “test”:

5. Press the e-chord (e with the spacebar) to “exit”, saving your new file:

6. Test to make sure you have created the file correctly by turning off the BNS. When you turn it back on it should say: "test is open."
